Xavier de le Rue

Xavier De Le Rue is a French 30 year old mountain lover who is based in Verbier area, Switzerland during winter when he's not on the road for a film session or a freeride competition. During summer he comes back to St Lary, his home resort, in the Pyrenees to climb with his wife and daughter, use his downhill mountain bike or go surfing near by on the french coast.

Xavier is the second son of a family of 5 (4 brothers and 1 sister), he's a strong freerider and is most likely the guy who can ride the fastest on any given terrain. Xavier used to be known as a competitor only, although he always preferred freeriding and spent time in the powder anytime snow conditions allowed it. But it's not easy to get into peoples mind you are a freerider when you won multiple snowboard cross world championship title and X games gold medals. His love for the mountain combined with his snowboarding racer and freestyler background gave him all the technical abilities he needed to use and shred natural terrains at its best. Every time he straps in, he charges like there is no tomorrow, whether it's pillow, minigulf, cliff drop or tight couloirs.

Most recently Xavier won the tile of snowboard freeride world champion two times in the row, was awarded twice best line of the freeride world tour (snowboard and ski), and won the Big Mountain pro event couple times. Although it's great to step on the higher place of a podium, Xavier's favorite program is filming and shooting freeride actions. Snowboarding true recognition comes with a solid video part and Xavier was hungry to get the chance to learn that side of snowboarding and get a first chance to see where he was standing at. He has gotten his first big video part' last year in Standard Films "Aesthetica" and got his life saved by ABS backpack from a huge avalanche. Even when you know the mountain and are super into checking security, shit happen sometimes. It was not his time to go and ended up with no serious damage, only a big warning from mother nature.

This past season Xavier has been filming a lot again, in Europe and AK for standard films movie " Black Winter" and Rossignol, his board's sponsors. His best freeride experience happened late season when he went to Greenland for "Lives Of The Artists" a documentary mixing big mountain snowboarding, big waves surfing and hard core punk music band touring in the US, produced by relentless energy and released on their website in November.

At the end of the season, Xavier experienced a new way of riding while hunting steep faces with Jeremy Jones around Chamonix area for DEEPER. For this two years filming project the rider exclusively access their playground while using human power. This highly anticipated best ever freeride oriented film will also feature Xavier and Jeremy's expedition in Antarctica with the relentless energy film crew. Xavier came back from Antarctica with a big smile on their faces. This is the trip of a lifetime, we rode everyday peaks and landscape I would have never expected to even see.
