On our Analog Products.

April 20th, 2009

Since 2000 V.I.O. Inc has come a long way. We first began as a content distribution website that quickly transformed into a unique camera company. In 2000 we released the Adventure Cam classic, which was followed by 4 more generations or versions of Analog Cameras. Over the last 9 years we have changed our company name from VIOSPORT/VIOTAC (it was interesting trying to answer the phones for two companies at once -Ian), and then back to V.I.O. Inc. Some of us at V.I.O. (myself included -Ian) began working with the company during the Analog Era. The Analog Era had both a positive and negative side. One of the biggest issues was the reliance on third party recording units, mostly standard camcorders.

April 14th, 2009

Here is a tutorial on how to convert a video using MPEG StreamClip. I am going to skip the tutorial on how to install the Perian Plug-in seeing as the site and the file it comes with have far better detailed instructions.

SD/SDHC Cards

March 23rd, 2009

As I have written before, not all SD/SDHC cards are created equal. When using the POV.1 please make sure that you are using a top quality card.

V.I.O. recommends that you use Sandisk cards that are rated with a speed of Class 4 or 100x. Class ratings are usually printed on the label of the SDHC card and they will often times use a capital C with a number in it.

Other cards may work with the POV camera system, but we cannot guarantee their reliability. If you are having issues recording video (especially with invalid clips) please use a Sandisk card. Again: USE OTHER CARDS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

We will not be able to provide technical support with issues that involve the following brands:

Kingston

Patriot

PNY

2009 will be an exciting year.

February 9th, 2009

Well 2009 looks to be a very exciting year with several improvements to the POV.1 planned. So far 2009 has seen the POV Power, Lens Shield, and Mounting Kit ship, with more accessories (such as the waterproof bag) and other additions (please do not e-mail us asking what or when something is coming out. If I do know I can’t tell you) to our digital product line up planned to be available in the near future. I am looking to also update the blog regularly with more of guides that you have requested. I am currently working on one for Mpeg StreamClip and iMovie ’08, and I hope to have it up in the next few days.

Invalid Clip Issue

January 28th, 2009

The issue with the Invalid Clips have frustrated a few of our customers on more than one occasion. Some of the causes are accidental or random. The only two that can be completely preventable are invalid clips caused by bad SD cards and bad batteries. Honestly if you are willing to pay for the POV.1 please spend the extra $10 or $20 on a decent SD card. Is it really worth loosing one of your coolest rides ever? Post after the jump.

Firmware Update Patch for Mac users.

November 21st, 2008

When we released the firmware update for the POV.1 we found out from our Macintosh users that there was an unexpected issue. When the POV.1 updates it will look one the SD card and expect to see two files, the VIO folder, and the .elf update file. If it finds other files the unit will lock up. When ever a Macintosh accesses a removable drive it will put two hidden files on the drive. To fix this we have released a patch to delete the hidden files off of the Macintosh for you. For instructions see below.
